In 2020, the Serenata Singers will celebrate its 50th anniversary. It was founded as The Gap and District Musical Society in 1970 by Nerida Elwood, who served as the choir’s first conductor. Check out our history page for photos and memorabilia.

We are looking to mark the occasion with a special concert, and with articles and displays relating to the history of the choir. We have compiled a  draft list of people who have been associated with the Serenata Singers over the years and are asking for help in identifying omissions and errors. The list has recently been updated (latest update 30 April) and can be accessed here. Notice that anyone has been left out? Got our facts wrong? Misspelt someone’s name? Contact us to update the list.

Over the years there have been a number of choir members, conductors and accompanists – not to mention audience members. If you are one of these, we would love to hear from you, especially if you have materials such as old concert programs and photos, or would like to share a story or two about the choir.  Contact us here.

As this project proceeds, we will post further information on this web page – so stay tuned! We are putting together a “personal memories” page that contains memories and comments from past and current members. Why not add yours? The page is accessible here, but will be updated as new contributions arrive.
