On Sunday, 28 July, many of our members joined with the Brisbane Regional Youth Orchestra and the Queensland University Musical Society to perform at Brisbane City Hall in this year’s Lord Mayors Concert series. The orchestra led off with a classic in Richard Strauss’s “Also Sprach Zarathustra” and other beautiful tunes such as Hans Zimmer’s “Chevaliers De Sangreal” from “The Da Vinci Code” and finishing with a suite of Star Wars themes including the “Imperial March” and “Princess Leia’s Theme”.

Interspersed with their instrumentals, the choir supported soloists in the Beatles “Eleanor Rigby”, followed by the moving “Lacrimosa” from Mozart’s “Requiem” and for the big finale, singing a very rousing “Duel of the Fates” from Star Wars.

The concert was well received, and we hope to collaborate again with these amazing musicians.
