Bellevue Concert

On a wet Saturday morning the choir travelled to the Bellevue Nursing Home in Ferny Hills on 19 October to perform before a good-sized audience of nursing home residents. The concert was our last outing before the gala concert and gave us a chance to further hone our repertoire. Premieres included Tonight and One Hand, One Heart from West Side Story, Hakuna Matata, Veni Jesu, and If You Go In from Iolanthe. It was also the first time that we have performed the Gershwin swing set in its entirety. There were a few minor hiccups and a slightly out-of-tune piano, but conductor Lois Cutmore commented that the harmonies are starting to sound really lovely. Certainly the audience response was enthusuastic.

Solo performances were from Desleigh Byrne (My Romance) and June Russell (Vilya). John McCollow compered and Pru Gibbs was, as ever, a peerless accompanist.
