Parkview Concert, Wheller Gardens

On a beautiful Tuesday morning, 26 November, the choir travelled to Parkview at Wheller Gardens (Chermside) to do our final non-Christmas-related concert of 2019. We had a good sized and appreciative crowd.

The choir sang the West Side Story medley, the Gershwin swing set, Down to the River to Pray, Veni Jesu, I’m Gonna Sing, the Gilbert and Sullivan medley, and Hakuna Matata and Circle of Life from The Lion King. Jenni Mersiades provided the musical direction and Prue Gibbs the accompaniment.

Lyn Orchard, Bev Crouch and Sharon Schinkel performed Moon River, Denis Joyce sang Oh What a Beautiful Morning, and Prue Gibbs dazzled the audience with her piano rendition of Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos’s Idilio na rêde. John McCollow acted as compere.

The audience joined enthusiastically in the community singing of All I Have to Do is Dream and What a Wonderful World and the choir farewelled them with a quick rendition of We Wish You a Merry Christmas. In thanking the choir, the Parkview representative stated that she looked forward to our next visit, a sentiment endorsed by the audience.
