St Joseph’s Mitchelton

The Serenata Singers returned to St Joseph’s Hostel in Mitchelton on Wednesday 25 August for a morning concert and performed to a packed house, which warmly received the choir’s performance. Conductor Jenni Mersiades and accompanist Prue Gibbs led the choir through a repertoire that included first-time performances of Oh What a Beautiful Morning, Oklahoma, I’m Gonna Sing, Grandma’s Feather Bed and Fly Away. Soloists were Ray Wiseman, who sang the spiritual If I Can Help Somebody, and John McCollow, who sang The Whiffenpoof Song. John also handled the compering duties. The audience joined in the community singing of All My Loving, California Dreaming and Love Me Tender.
