SERENATA SINGERS CHRISTMAS SOCIAL

A glittering evening of dinner, song and socialising – and a few jokes – was enjoyed by choir members at our annual Christmas social on Friday evening, 6 December, at the Arana Leagues Club.

A chock-full program of musical items included performances of The Foggy, Foggy Dew by John McCollow; the Flanders & Swann classic, Hippopotamus Song by Ian Symes; You Need Hands by Beverley Crouch; Time in a Bottle by Sue Stern; High Noon by Ray Wiseman; Making Whoopie by Desleigh Byrne and Rosmary Henni; To Make You Feel My Love by Jenni Mersiades; and Unforgettable by Denis Joyce (which he dedicated to late choir member Bill Reilly). A surprise addition to the program was a solo by our Patron, Paul Sayer, who sang Passing By (A Lady Sweet and Kind), a song that he had originally won a prize for singing as a school boy soprano. (He sang it several octaves lower and in a different key this time.)

Of course, the program wouldn’t be complete without a Christmas-related number, which was provided with Lyn Orchard, Sue Edwards and Sharon Schinkel’s rendition of White Christmas – followed, of course, by a round of everybody-join-in Christmas carols.

A very enjoyable evening! Check out the slide show of photos.
