SERENATA SINGERS EMERGE

The Gap Serenata Singers have, like everyone else, had their share of disappointments in cancellation after cancellation of concerts for community groups. The group has been active for more than 50 years engaging with the community. A large part of their existence has been to provide concerts for community groups, particularly Aged Care facilities. The group finally had the opportunity to perform in public again, on Monday 13 September.

Fifteen of our members had the privilege of presenting a short repertoire to a senior’s group which meets regularly at The Gap Uniting Church. The performance included a number of regular tunes of the group, four solos by members of Serenata Singers and a community sing-a-long with the seniors, of old favourites like “Pack Up Your Troubles” and “When You’re Smiling”. From all accounts the concert was well received and many a senior wanted the singing to continue.

Serenata Singers are now planning other community concerts and are quickly resuming more normal rehearsals while Queensland remains relatively virus free.  If you are looking for an outlet and engagement with others, please contact us at serenatasingersthegap@gmail.com and come along and sing with us.
