The Serenata Singers have performed their first concert for 2023 on 22^nd of March at St Vincent’s Care,  Mitchelton. With the choir ready in the morning, the residents started to arrive quickly for a 10:30 am start – standing room only. The audience was put in the mood with a Community Sing-a-Long with some old favourites such as “On the Sunny Side of the Street”, “Red Roses for a Blue Lady”, and “My Blue Heaven”. With everyone in full voice, the formal program began with Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” followed by a John Denver medley which had toes tapping and sing-a-long favourites from “Phantom of the Opera” and “Les Miserables”.

Two welcome solos from choir members providing the choir with breaks and John McCollow, our President entertained as MC. The choir finished off with “I Am Australian”.

It was very rewarding to be performing again to an audience after our Christmas break and taking on a largely new repertoire. Many thanks to our new Musical Director, Guillaume Lemay-Yates and our accompanist, Alison Siemon.
